About Me
I am at the start of my journey with Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS on August 17, 2021. The goal of this blog is threefold. First, it is intended to help me to sort through my thoughts and feelings as I process my diagnosis and what it means for my life going forward. Second, I am posting my experiences in the hopes that, perhaps, my reflections may help someone else who is going through their own journey with this disease, or with any other difficult situation that life brings. Third, I hope to raise awareness of MS and encourage anyone reading my blog to donate to fight this disease. This is essentially my journal, which I am opening up for the world to see on the off chance that it may improve this journey for someone else.
I am not an expert on MS. To the contrary, I am new to all of this. If you are joining me on this journey, you will be a witness to my learning curve.
I am a lawyer, a wife, and a mother. I am a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I am a runner, a swimmer, a canoeist, and a camper. I am a foodie, a home cook, and a wine-lover. I fear MS changing or taking away these labels that I use to define myself.
Why have I titled my blog “Life Among the Clouds”? First, for the literal interpretation: when I close my right (good) eye, I see the world through what looks like a thick layer of clouds courtesy of the optic neuritis that led to my diagnosis. Second, for the more metaphorical interpretation: I am stumbling my way through all of this and hoping that I make good decisions that will improve my prognosis. But only time will tell whether the decisions that I make with an incomplete picture ahead of me pan out or fail.
I have opted to treat my MS through a combination of Kesimpta, exercise, and a healthy diet.
As an avid cook, I will periodically share my recipes on this webpage too.
Thanks for choosing to join me on this journey.
Best,
Margaux
